Hey kids!  I am at a loss this week....no Mojo Monday sketch...What????  On vacation until 9/19?  Don't they realize what a HUGE fan I am?!?  *sigh*...I guess the old saying is true...absence does make the heart grow fonder.  But enough already....I need a sketch fix! :)

I've started working on Christmas cards already!  I have about a bazillion to make (not complaining) for friends and family this year....YIPPEE!   I thought that I may sneak in some Halloween and Thanksgiving cards this year, but I don't think it is meant to be.   Unfortunately, my train of thought leading me to my Christmas Day deadline was flawed...I thought I had a good 4 months to get about 200 cards done, but, it just occurred to me last week, that it would probably be best not to wait until Christmas Day to send out Christmas cards...DUH.  So now that my deadline has been corrected to the week before Thanksgiving, the calendar is no longer my friend, and I Gotta Get Those Cards Done!!!!  

So you are probably wondering what my first few cards look like....oh not so fast my blog friends....I am saving them in my arsenal until October.  Until then, you will have to enjoy a few projects (that I have actually completed...heehee).   Here is this weeks fun post.  I made this nifty little ball for my beautiful Mom!  If you want instructions, let me know.  I'd be happy to share.    Have a great week everyone!!!

Thursday already?!?

How did Thursday get here already?   I haven't been feeling the greatest, so that probably explains the time vanishing from my week.  But all is well now, and I am feeling pretty perky this morning!  

Its the first day of school here in Wisconsin!  The kids are nervous/excited to get back into the swing of things.  Meagan starts middle school and Bert is in 1st grade.  I'm so proud of them....my mom was 
right...watching your kids stretch and grow is one of the best parts of being a mom.  Most mom's miss their kids being little, and cuddly and I guess I do a bit too....but I don't miss diapers, and late night feedings.   I love watching my kids become more independent and kind to others.  It just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.  And even though they aren't little and cuddly anymore, they are still cuddly (heehee)!

Here is this week's project...In honor of school starting, I'll post the card in our school colors.  Go Cheesemakers!!!

Stuffy Meagan...awww

Poor Meagan has a summer cold.  Bummer.  Shouldn't these things at least wait until school starts???  I mean really, only a few days of summer freedom left and she is stuck with a stuffy nose, and a sort throat.   I'd say that really stinks... but right now, she can't smell anything.  The good news (for me) is that I can load her up with lots of veggies and healthy stuff she usually doesn't like to eat...might as well as long as she can't taste anything.  (Mwaahaahaa...evil mom strikes again!)

Thankful...

You know, of course, I am entirely thankful to have such a wonderful husband and family.  They are always so supportive of me (and my crazy habit of cutting and gluing paper).  And this week we are even more thankful to have our niece Kate staying with us...YAY!!!  I just love seeing her sitting on my couch!!!    AND I am thankful for my new furry friend  Lainey....she is so sweet.  She is a black shiny stray kitten (6 months old...AWWW) from the Rock County Humane Society.  We brought her home  Friday.  As soon as I have a picture to post, I'll put it out there.   I have tried taking a few, but it is really hard to take a good picture of a black playful cat...imagine that!   Several black, blurry shots...all my picures look like we are being invaded by a miniature dementor (yes, I willingly show my nerdy obsession with Harry Potter).

Here is a card I made a few weeks ago using a Mojo Monday sketch.  Unfortunately, I have a hard time getting Mojo cards done in time to post them, so I save them for later....Here is a goodie! 

To make the clouds, I punched out a scallop circle and sponged ink right along the top edge (background card stock is whisper white).  Then moving it downward, you sponge ink along the edge again, but leave white space under the ink above...The daisies on the right were stamped with versa mark, and embossed with clear embossing powder.  Because the embossed image won't stain or soak up the ink, they stay white.   I loved making this one...so much fun!

Hey Kids! It's time to go Gnome!

I just love a good pun!  It must be my juvenile sense of humor, but put a good pun on some pretty paper and I am one happy stamper!    Don't ask me what made me think of gnomes when I saw the most recent Mojo sketch...Maybe I'm gnoming crazy!  Heehee!!!

Well, gotta keep the post short today.  My house isn't going to clean itself, and since there is gnomebody else to do it, I'd better get gnoming.  But, maybe before I start cleaning my gnome, I'll gnome get some lunch.  Oh, Gnome! Look at that, I have gnome bread.  Now I'll have to gnome to the store to get some more!  If only I'd gnome ahead of time!  Gnomebody ever tells me anything!  OK...I'll stop. Gnome more gnome jokes...for now(heehee).

 

Hey there Cupcake!!

Hello!  I got a good one for you this week.  Ain't she cute!?!   I am not usually the type to toot my own horn, but paper and glue just gets me all Jazzed Up!!!!  This one was so much fun to make...I think it is because, 1. I'm in love with Poppy Parade...it is so pretty I want to eat it up! and, 2.  This cupcake punch is just too much fun!.  It punches out about a bazillion little pieces, but it is too stinkin' cute for words.  Okay, I'm done gushing for now.

I spent Friday night and Saturday scrappin' with my buds!  Which also explains my overly gushy mood this morning...I haven't been scrappin' in a long LONG time.   It was great to get together again.  Of course, I got next to nothing done... again, but it's just nice to get together for some girlie talk once in a while. 

Well, it's Monday Morning, which means two things.  I need to go check out the new Mojo Monday sketch, and I am probably running late for work again...Um, sure enough, the clock on the wall is telling me I better get moving NOW!  Ugh...At least the Mojo Monday sketch will be waiting for me after work, and I'll have something to look forward to all day!

Lazy Days of Summer?!?!

Hey...what ever happened to those lazy hazy days of summer that corny old song promised us?!?!  I can't believe I haven't posted anything since the 11th of July!  What kind of self-respecting blogger am I anyway?!?!  We have been so wrapped up in our summer fun, that I can't even remember the last time I sat down at the computer.  I've even missed the last two Mojo Monday postings...Not to worry, I did actually print them off and made a couple cards....(Shhhhh... don't tell anyone, but I haven't even downloaded the pictures of those cards yet...and this week's posting is a card I made about a month and a half ago).  Yikes!

Hope you all have been enjoying your summer!  I know I have!  This past weekend, my parents and my in-laws came over and we had a great time!!!!  How many people can say that?!?!  You all think I'm lying, don't you?  Well...I'm not.  We really did have a wonderful time together.  AND, by the way, the sympathy card I am posting this week has no Freudian undertones whatsoever!  It is the only card I have left in my "blog stuff" folder that hasn't already been posted yet.  

Anyway I can't wait to get together with them again.   Actually we MUST find time to get together again, because I forgot to take any pictures of us together. DUH!  I KNOW...First no blog post last week, and now no pictures from a family get-together to scrapbook. (Insert head slap here!) 

Well, I'm going to go get my poop in a group now, and I swear on a stack of Stampin Up Cardstock that I promise to be a better blogger and scrapper from now on!   Enjoy your week everyone!!!!

 

Back from Vacation!!!

  I am a bit behind, as usual, but trying to get caught up on things after having another great vacation!   As soon as I get my pictures downloaded, I'll share a few.  I just think it is great that my husband and I have better cameras on our cell phones now.  No more blurry grainy phone  pics...but that just means I need to stop long enough to download from both of our phones and my camera!

Yesterday I fell and whacked my knee a good one.  It is fine now, but I had it up all day with ice so that it would stop swelling up....so there goes another day of not getting much done.   At least I had a little time on Saturday to make some cards....Here is one of them!  Next week I will be back at it, participating in the Monday Mojo challenge!   Can't wait!

Mojo Birthday Post and Fathers Day Wishes....

Happy Father's Day to all those great Dad's out there.  Today as I count my blessings, I cannot help but be grateful for all of the good Dad's  I know.  We all hear stories about the bummer dad's existing in the world, but I am so lucky, because of all the Dad's I know, I can't think of one stinker!  My own dad, my husband, my father-in-law, my brother, brother-in-law...all really wonderful dads!!!! 

Here is my new Mojo Monday posting.....

 
Wish I could get these done and posted a little quicker, but finally got this one posted a few hours before the deadline!!!  Hope you like it.   The big ol' flower is made of four 1-1/4" circle punches with the 2 petal edges folded inward. First, lightly fold (do not crease) the circle in quarters.  Then un-fold the circle so that you have guide marks.  Then, finally fold the top two edges inward (the corner of each little petal fold meets the guide marks from the quarter fold).  Ugh... So simple to do....so hard to explain. Here is a picture...the shaded section is the part folded inward.

Once you have four circles folded, you can arrange them with the points toward the center.  I tucked scalloped circles behind each petal to fill in the gaps at the top. 

  The background of this card is woven paper, which for once turned out pretty good.... The card stock is slit along the width every 1/2" and each slit is 2-1/4" long.  Then 1/2" strips of pattern paper are woven within the card stock.    The card stock looks like this before you start weaving....Give it a try and have fun!!!

 

Got Mojo?

Gettin' ready to post my first Mojo Monday card!  I'm just lovin' this site!!! And I am lovin' this card!  A long time ago I bought the Stampin' Up's "In Color" stack of card-stock and the "Sunny Garden" designer paper that went along with it.  Wow is it ever pretty!  LOVE IT!  This color of this one is Poppy Parade.  Check out the Mojo site and see all the great postings...there are some super great crafters out there!!!!

Well, school is over for the year.  Next year Meagan will be in middle school and Bert will be in first grade.  What a conundrum it creates for this mom!  I love nothing more than watching my kids grow up and become independent, and I absolutely do not miss diapers, tantrums, and chasing toddlers through a store...but somehow, the last day of school put me in a Blue Funk *sigh*.  My kids are getting too big too fast.  Am I ever happy???  What's wrong with me?  As my daughter likes to say.... "Well Snap!"  I guess I do need to just 'snap out of it' and keep watching them grow and thrive. 

In the mean time, I'll keep stamping on pretty paper.   Thank goodness for my little hobby.
